Another Predator Film In The Works With Dan Trachtenberg

Two years after Shane Black‘s forgettable The Predator, it seems it will be hunting season very soon again. Deadline are reporting a fifth film is in the works with 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg set to direct.

The report states the film will be made for 20th Century Studios, the new studio name for Fox now owned by Disney. The plot won’t apparently pick up where the 208 film ended, however the plot details are being kept a secret at this stage. Patrick Aison who wrote the scripts for Jack Ryan, Treadstone and Kingdom will write the new film’s script.

Not continuing what happened in each film is not unusual for the franchise. Each film has been completely different with the only connection being the Predators themselves. Will Earth be the playground of the predators or some alien world? The original film  was released in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as Shane Black. Both part of a group of commandos being tracked and killed in gory fashion by the extra-terrestrial hunter.

Slashfilm have picked up on a report Deadline posted in 2019. That Trachtenberg was to direct a film called ‘Skulls’, described as ‘Skulls will follow a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior‘. Ironically a script written by Patrick Aison, is this just merely a coincidence? Those trophy hunting predators collect skulls, could ‘Skull’ be the code name for this film?

Whatever the film is going to be , Disney must believe there’s still life in the franchise. Here’s hoping he surprises us all.
