Anna Kerrigan’s Cowboys Starring Steve Zahn Gets UK Trailer

Blue Finch Film Releasing have released the UK Trailer for Anna Kerrigan’s award-winning debut , Cowboys. The indie shows a rare understanding of the complexities and challenges of modern family life, when a father and his transgender son escape to the mountains of Montana.

Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club) and Jillian Bell (Brittany Runs a Marathon) plays the parents of Transgender son (played by Sasha Knight). The film follows a troubled but well-intentioned father who has recently separated from his wife runs off with his trans son. They head into the Montana wilderness after his ex-wife’s refusal to let their son live as his authentic self.

Troy (Steve Zahn, Dallas Buyers Club, Lean on Pete) is on a camping trip with his transgender son Joe (Sasha Knight), an 11-year-old with a passion for cowboy yarns and the great outdoors. As they travel through the majestic beauty of the northern Rockies, television news reports emerge claiming that Joe is missing. As detective Faith (Ann Dowd, The Handmaid’s Tale) investigates, we see a bigger picture involving Joe’s conservative mother Sally (Jillian Bell, Brittany Runs a Marathon) and her inability to let go of the little girl she loves.

Following a successful run on the festival circuit at BFI Flare, Tribeca, Glasgow Film Festival and Dublin International Film Festival, Anna Kerrigan’s revisionist western Cowboys blends moving drama with classic frontier imagery in the great American wilderness. Starring Steve Zahn, Jillian Bell, newcomer Sasha Knight and Ann Dowd. Cowboys is directed by Anna Kerrigan.

The film also stars Ann Dowd, Gary Farmer, Bob Stephenson, Chris Coy, and John Reynolds.

Blue Finch Film Releasing will release Cowboys in the UK & Ireland on Curzon Home Cinema and digital download from 7th May.
