Amazon’s Utopia Trailer Teases A Tripfest
San Diego Comic Con @Home is well under way, and things are arriving online left, right and centre. Amazon Prime have released the First Official Teaser Trailer for Utopia and boy it’s one hell of a tripfest!
The series is an American remake of the British series that was shown on Channel 4 in 2013 and 2014. The series will be eight parts following the same conspiracy theory thriller from the original series. The series has been in the making for an American version since 2014 with HBO originally set to release it.
Leading the line in this series is Sasha Lane (American Honey), alongside Rainn Wilson, John Cusack, Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Desmin Borges (You’re the Worst), Ashleigh LaThrop (The Handmaid’s Tale), Farrah Mackenzie (Logan Lucky), Christopher Denham (Billions), and Cory Michael Smith.
The series is based around a group of young adults who all met online are hunted by a shadowy deep state group. When they come into possession of a comic book that has conspiracy theories in it that might be true!
Utopia centers on a group of comic fans who meet online and bond over their obsession of a seemingly fictional comic called, “Utopia.” Together, Ian (Dan Byrd), Becky (Ashleigh LaThrop), Samantha (Jessica Rothe), Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges) and Grant (Javon “Wanna” Walton) unearth hidden meanings cloaked within the pages of “Utopia,” predicting threats to humanity. They realize these are not just the makings of a conspiracy; they are very real dangers coming alive right now in their world. The high-stakes adventure brings the group face-to-face with the comic’s famed central character, Jessica Hyde (Sasha Lane), who joins them on their mission to save the world while harboring secrets of her own.
The series showrunner this time is Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn.
Utopia set for release later in 2020 on Amazon Prime.
