A brief history of SpongeBob SquarePants

Spongebob Squarepants

One of the greatest kids shows of all time; SpongeBob SquarePants is still going strong 9 Seasons later. While I think this shows best seasons were seasons 1 through 4, I don’t think some of the newer episodes are as bad as some people make them out to be. I mean think about it. SpongeBob SquarePants is a kid show yeah sure, they may throw some adult humer in there every now and then, but for the most part it’s still mainly for the kids. Which means what I would find humorous, funny, whatever you want to call it, is probably not what kids today find funny. Anyway whether you’re a fan of the old SpongeBob or the new SpongeBob; it really doesn’t matter. You’re more than likely still a fan, regardless. So what do you say I take you down memory lane and we start from beginning

The show was created by Stephen Hillenburg and here’s a little food for thought: he was also a writer for Rocko’s Modern Life; another classic Nicktoon. Although SpongeBob didn’t air until 1999, Hillenburg begin creating the show in 1996 after the cancellation of Rocko’s Modern Life. Soon after it’s debut SpongeBob would go on to become Nickelodeon‘s Flagship show winning numerous Awards and become a force to

Then the SpongeBob SquarePants movie happened and after THAT happened, most people say the show went downhill. You know it’s kind of hard to refute that claim. No More Derek Drymon, no more Stephen Hillenburg  (although he will be returning), a dumber Patrick, changes in SpongBob’s character, the list goes on and on. I can’t say what made others (including myself) turn away from the show, but if I had to guess, I’d say that it was simply because we fell in love with the show that Hillenburg created and we couldn’t picture SpongeBob being any other way than that and when Hillenburg, so did our love for the show.

Well there you have it; a brief history of SpongeBob SquarePants I would go into detail but then it wouldn’t be very brief, i guess. In closing, I will say that no matter how old you are, you more than likely can’t get enough of the newer seasons or you tear up when you see the older episodes. See you next time.
