A stylish tale of forbidden love, not to be missed.

Moonlight (2016)

Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight follows protagonist Chiron through three stages of his life, exploring masculinity and sexual identity against the backdrop of an art house aesthetic Miami. In this coming of age tale Jenkins sensitivity captures Chiron’s emerging sexuality and romantic encounters – genre defying and visually stunning Moonlight deservedly earnt the Oscar for Best Picture in 2017.

Blue Is the Warmest Colour (2017)

When Adèle (Adèle Exarchopoulos), a 15-year-old high-school student, meets a mysterious, blue-haired girl in the street (Léa Seydoux), a passionate and chaotic love story begins… Despite being marked with controversy relating to the film’s six minute long sex scene, Blue Is The Warmest Colour won Cannes’ Palme D’or in and has since become a staple of the queer canon.

God’s Own Country (2017)

Set in the sheep farming hills of rural England, God’s Own Country sees local farmer Johnny Saxby (Josh O’Connor) confronted with an emotional awakening when a handsome Romanian migrant worker Gheorghe (Alex Secareanu) arrives to take up temporary work on the family’s farm. The pair form an intimate relationship, one that is poetic, brutal and passionate. This critically acclaimed film from Director Francis Lee, has been described as one of the great romantic movies in recent memory.

Portrait Of A Lady On Fire (2020)

Celine Sciamma’s period masterpiece set in 1770 France sees painter Marianne (Noémie Merlant) commissioned to create the wedding portrait a young woman Héloïse (Adèle Haenel) without her knowing. Intimacy and attraction grows between the two women as they share Héloïse’s first and last moments of freedom, all whilst Marianne paints the portrait that will end it all. A modern classic.
