Rocketman Featurette Taron Egerton’s Elton John ‘Will Sing’

When one Dexter Fletcher musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is picking up awards (including BAFTAs) focus is slowly moving towards his next one…Rocketman. Both are going to be completely different musical ‘beasts’, one critically panned but loved by the fans, the other ‘Based On A True Fantasy‘.

Rocketman we’ve been told will be based on Elton John‘s life and around his formative years. With the focus on the actual songs, the beats, the atmosphere of the era. This is not going to be your usual Biopic flick and like any other film the potential to surprise or sink. If we go by Bohemian Rhapsody expect the unexpected, there could be another hit for Fletcher on the cards.

When it comes to musical biopics be it true or fantasy based, there is an tendency our leading actor(/cast) to lip sync. Not Taron Egerton as this New first look featurette highlights, as we hear and see the Kingsman actor record Tiny Dancer.

Based on a true fantasy, ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John.

This inspirational story – set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton – tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.

Rocketman will be in UK and Irish Cinemas from May 2019 (possibly 31st May?). Co-Starring Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, Gemma Jones, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
