Watch Joe Cornish’s The Kid Who Would Be King First Trailer

‘All hail the king!’ Twentieth Century Fox has dropped the first (UK) Trailer for The Kid Who Would Be King. A new twist on the age-old King Arthur Mythology, one that actually looks like IT will attempt to deliver a fresh twist.

We have had many films down the years depicting that myth (as with many others like Robin Hood), very few offer something different. Attack The Block‘s Joe Cornish is taking his inspiration from the 1980s (possibly 1990s) with a modern edge and humour! Cinephiles did lose faith in King Arthur after last year’s dreadful King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. This looks like a big slice of Amblin Entertainment, though a little generic sometimes keeping it simple is the best way.

Our unlikely hero Alex is played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis (son of Andy Serkis). We meet him getting bullied at school, he thinks he’s a nobody until he finds Excalibur! Alex now has to unite friends and foe who will become the new Knights Of The Round Table and take on Morganna.

Looking very inventive, confident approach to King Arthur here’s hoping The Kid Who Would Be King will be another success for Joe Cornish

Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he’s just another nobody until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.

The film also stars Dean Chaumoo, Tom Taylor, Rhianna Dorris, Angus Imrie, Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson.

The Kid Who Would Be King will be released in the UK and Ireland from 15th February 2019.
