What Are You?‘  Last night During the airing of the finale of Mr Robot in USA Paramount Pictures revealed the first teasers for Ghost In The Shell. Instead of one bigger teaser trailer we have 5 different teasers that replicate the the familiar Dystopian Cyberpunk style that made  the Manga/Anime a cult hit worldwide. Paramount have sent us the UK versions, check them out….

Recently we’ve seen Scarlett Johansson kick ass in the Marvel Cinema Universe and we know you she can handle herself in action flicks. She’s now a mysterious cyborg in Mamoru Oshii‘s classic and the first impressions for fans will hopefully excite with each promo recreating classic scenes. We do love the cyberpunk sub-genre if anything is one of our favourite genres amongst Anime.

Ghost In The Shell follows the Major (Johansson), a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

No matter what people think of Ghost In The Shell, this film (probably many more films to come)a streak of controversy will be following it. As the original source is Japanese you would expect an Japanese actress to play the lead role instead of an White actress like Johansson? Once the first image was released accusations of ‘whitewashing’ and gossip after gossip the outcries got louder.

Whilst the clips are familiar to fans they are cryptic too, given a good look at Johansson’s character. The questions been asked who is Major? The we get the clues that show Major plugged in before we see a mysterious Geisha walking is ‘she’ a cyborg? We also see a cautious Major walk into a room of men with the slogan ‘This is just the beginning’. Final teaser is of the chief Daisuke Aramaki played by the legendary Takeshi Kitano with an crazy haircut looking like a character straight out of one of his  gangster movies.

We’re looking forward to it are you? Ghost In The Shell Arrives in UK&Ireland March 2017. Rupert Sanders is directing with Pilou Asbæk, Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche and Kaori Momoi also starring.
