It’s been a long time coming, but in Summer 2015 the dreams of many Jurassic Park fans around the world will become true when Jurassic World finally opens it’s doors to a new adventure.
Universal have been very careful to control the release of information about the film, up till now only releasing stills. However, on Sunday a trailer teaser was released, stating at the end, that the full trailer would premiere on Friday. Luckily for us all, it was released last night, a full three days ahead of schedule.
The film, directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed), and starring Chris Pratt (Guardians of The Galaxy) and Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help), is set 22 years after the events of the first Jurassic Park film, and we see that Isla Nublar is now a fully functioning (for now) theme park. Judging from the trailer we can see that “life finds a way” and things start to go wrong quite rapidly.
It seems that Trevorrow knows his audience well, and includes many nods to the original film in the trailer, including the familiar mosquito in amber, and the chilling sound of the raptor’s call. However, it’s not all nostalgia, as we see the addition of a huge aquatic beast devouring a shark, sea-world style, what appears to be raptor racing, and learn that scientists have created the first genetically-modified hybrid dinosaur. We’re siding with Chris Pratt on this one when he says “that’s probably not a good idea“.
Jurassic World is released in UK cinemas on June 12th 2015.
