Paul Thomas Anderson’s THE MASTER Has Risen Watch Teaser Trailer

Apart from Rangers FC tax returns the only other thing shrouded in mystery has to be Paul Thomas Anderson’s THE MASTER and tonight we finally have a look at the film in the shape of a teaser trailer.

The film marks Anderson’s first film since his highly successful 2008 film There Must Be Blood along with Joaquin Phoenix’s official step out of retirement (or first film since his mock doc I’m Still Here) who seems to have not lost his acting chops. We see the actor been interrogated by Military Police officer about a previous event, he’s looking creepy, sounds of it disillusioned by the army  a perfect victim for the master to manipulate. Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays the master an army veteran disturbed by the horrors of world war 2 decides to start his own religious cult with Phoenix  a drifter that comes under his wing eventually becoming his right hand man who starts to question that actions of the faith he has helped to establish. Sounds like a cult John Travolta, Tom Cruise and Co like to donate to? Scientology? Who knows possibly inspired it like the way Cloud Atlas is allegedly a platform for The republican party.

The score sounds wonderful from Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood gives the film that eerie, dark feeling bringing and unsettling tone to the film. October 12th will be the USA release date, nothing yet for UK&Ireland though that may change this week at Cannes, the film also stars Amy Adams, Laura Dern, David Warshofsky, Rami Malek, Jesse Plemons, Madisen BeatyJoshua Close and Fiona Dourif.
