In American Made First Trailer, Tom Cruise Runs, Runs And Runs!

In 4 days time, Tom Cruise‘s The Mummy will arrive in UK and Irish Cinemas, ahead of that release Universal Pictures want to tease us about Cruise next movie, American Made.Cruise reunites with Doug Liman for a crime thriller that is based on the outrageous (and real) exploits of Barry Seal (Tom Cruise) – a hustler and pilot unexpectedly recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S history….

Check out the first UK trailer….

Our hats off to Mr Cruise who still performs his own stunts especially when he’s no spring chicken. This new movie shows the fun, action packed tropes we expect from a Tom Cruise movie. This does look like Mr Cruise will be showing off his dramatic chops more than the action side, but he runs , runs and runs!

In Universal Pictures’ American Made (originally called Mena), Tom Cruise reunites with his Edge of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith), in this international escapade based on the outrageous (and real) exploits of a hustler and pilot unexpectedly recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S. history.

This one looks more comical than usual for a Cruise movie. It still feels like one of his movies, a bit like if he did his own version of The Infiltrator (Bryan Cranston), a bit out of his depth. The ironic thing is, this is based on a true story involved in one of U.S biggest covert operations. Could this be dipping its toe in the awards season? It’s out 4 weeks after the UK release and there’s plenty going for it, whatever happens, it looks solid popcorn entertainment.

American Made also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, E. Roger Mitchell, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Alejandro Edda, Benito Martinez, Caleb Landry Jones, Jayma Mays. The movie arrives in the UK, Irish cinemas from 25th August (USA 29th September).
