A Monsters Call

If you are going to get any actor to voice your monster, you can do no wrong with Liam Neeson and he has one of the most recognisable voices in movies. In the latest new video for A Monsters Call, Neeson reads the first chapter of the Patrick Ness‘ award-winning fantasy novel the movie is adapted from. When you listen to the Irish actor talk you’re mesmerised from the word go and your emotions just wilt away. Now there’s another one of his particular set of skills revealed!

A Monsters Call might be a fantasy tale but it’s no ordinary tale one you might want to replace your popcorn with a packet of hankies as it deals with loss, life, death, faith and courage.You will be surprised to learn the Spanish director JA Bayona‘s ย inspiration for the movie Is E.T and Never Ending Story. ย It’s a dark movie full of emotion and Bayona who directed The Impossible (next Jurassic World 2) you would expect something like The Orphanage (which he worked on).

A Monster Calls is a visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (โ€œThe Impossibleโ€), based on the award-winning fantasy novel. 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempts to deal with his motherโ€™s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith. Also featuring Liam Neeson who will star in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title, and Sigourney Weaver as the maternal grandmother.

A Monster Calls features an all-star cast including Liam Neeson, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell and Sigourney Weaver, with newcomer Lewis MacDougall as Conor.

The movie is released in UK&Ireland on New Year’s Day 1st January 2017.
