In Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Bigbug Trailer, Things Are Not What They Seem
This is a nice little surprise. Netflix today have unveiled the first (teaser) Trailer for Jean-Pierre Jeunet‘s Bigbug.
Things are not what they seem in this sci-fi comedy from the director of Amรฉlie, City Of The Lost Children and Delicatessen. His first film since 2013’s The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet, a film that takes a satirical kick at lockdowns.
This short trailer also teases an android uprising in a futuristic suburbia. An uprising if household robots revolt
which result in bickering suburbanites going into lockdown!
Visually this looks gorgeous, ticks all the boxes of what we expect from a Jeunet film. Nothing as straightforward, expected some naughtiness between human and robots. Maybe even something sinister too?! This trailer may not reveal much but news of a new film from Jean-Pierre Jeunet is enough to get us excited.
In 2050, artificial intelligence is everywhere. So much so that humanity relies on it to satisfy its every need and every desire โ even the most secret and wickedโฆ
In a quiet residential area, four domestic robots suddenly decide to take their masters hostage in their own home. Locked together, a not-quite-so-blended family, an intrusive neighbour and her enterprising sex-robot are now forced to put up with each other in an increasingly hysterical atmosphere! While, outside, the Yonyx, the latest generation of androids, are trying to take over. As the threat draws closer, the humans look elsewhere, get jealous, and rip into each other under the bewildered eyes of their indoor robots. Maybe itโs the robots whoโve got a soul โ or not!
The film cast includes Dominique Pinon, Elsa Zylberstein, Isabelle Nanty, Stรฉphane De Groodt, Claude Perron, Youssef Hajdi, Claire Chust, Franรงois Levantal, Alban Lenoir, Andrรฉ Dussollier, Marysole Fertard, and Hรฉlie Thonnat.
Bigbug will be released on Netflix from 11th February 2022. No word if this will be a global release, stay tuned.
