The Paranoia Rises In First Trailer For Ari Aster’s Eddington
The first trailer for Ari Aster‘s newest movie, Eddington, has finally arrived, revealing a tide of chaos and paranoia amidst a COVID-stricken nation. The trailer is vague but sets up the typical off-kilter style that Aster is known for.
The synopsis for the upcoming movie is as follows: In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff and mayor sparks a powder keg as neighbour is pitted against neighbour in Eddington, New Mexico.
This will be Aster’s first movie since 2023’s Beau Is Afraid, which marked his first collaboration withย Joaquin Phoenix, who returns for Eddington. Aster made a name for himself in the late 2010s with cult horror movies Hereditary and Midsommar, both of which were critical and commercial hits for A24.
Eddington boasts a stacked cast featuring the likes of Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Michael Ward, Amรฉlie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Austin Butler and Emma Stone.
The movie is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, with a US release to follow on 18thย July. No UK or Irish release date or distributor has been announced at this time.
