Danish Cop Thriller Shorta Gets A UK Trailer
Fans of John Carpenter and Walter Hill gritty 1970’s inspired thrillers, you might want to check out Danish cop thriller Shorta.
After a solid film festival run which started at Venice Film Festival (2020) as well as Glasgow and Dublin film festivals, the film is set for release. Today Vertigo Releasing have sent us the UK Trailer and Poster as social and racial tension rises in a Copenhagen suburb.
The film is also directorial feature debut for Anders Ølholm and Frederik Louis Hviid. We find ourselves in Svalegården the suburb of Copenhagen following 2 police cops on patrol. A young local man is in their custody and suffers fatal injuries. Word travels around about his death which pushes the locals to come out to vent their anger forcing the cops to flee for safety on foot.
Sadly social division, racism and police brutality is on the rise plus it’s not limited to the U.S. This film plays out with a conscience but also action packed too. This is very intense that does also reminds us of LadyJ‘s Les Miserables directed by John Carpenter.
Police officers, Jens and Mike, are on a routine patrol when news spreads of 19-year-old Talib Ben Hassi’s death whilst in police custody. As tensions escalate in the neighbourhood and the community’s youth seek revenge, the two officers find themselves in a volatile situation.
The film stars Jacob Hauberg, Simon Sears and Taren Zayat.
Shorta will be released in UK and Irish cinemas along with Digital from 3rd September.
