The Peoples Movies – Best Films Of 2018 (The Writers)

2019 will be with us in less than seven days, we still have time to deliver our 2018 Best Films lists. Let’s get one thing straight, everyone is different so are there tastes in film. When you look at the lists below you’ll see many films loved by several writers and loathed by others.

We love this.

It’s the time of the year film critics, film bloggers, cinephiles. social media warriors share their best ( and worst) films of the year. We also like to see how vicious some social media warrior when critics don’t share the same love or hatred for certain films. That’s why we call ourselves film fans than critics.

Was 2018 a better year than 2017? Really hard to tell, but what we believe in, is films for all. 2018 was the year diversity became even more important in films. Bringing equality to the big screen and reminds us of our motto ‘film for all’. Female-led films in genres usually associated as male-led, Superhero film with a predominantly black cast. Films that made you socially aware of racism and police brutality, LGBTQ film rightly released in the mainstream cinema. Widows, Ocean’s Eight, Black Panther, Hate U Give and Love, Simon our game changers.

This was also the year Netflix took on cinema making the gap between the small and the big screen smaller. Releasing a number of critically acclaimed films that are now in line for possible Oscar contention. Annihilation, Roma, Outlaw King, Bird Box all directed by leading filmmakers starring A-list actors. If they get nominated or not, Netflix can’t be ignored by the mainstream as they’ll be around for a long time.

So what about our best films? Below a few of our writers have shared their own best films of 2018. Some you may agree with, others you’ll disagree with. The lists are not in order of preference as we see equal qualities in all.

Look out for our Worst Films of 2018, coming soon.
