Following the November release of the upcoming ‘The Grinch’ animated film, in their next project Illumination Entertainment will be giving us another glimpse at what our pets do when we’re not around.
‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ will follow the summer 2016 blockbuster about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day.
Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy will produce the sequel to the comedy that had the best opening ever for an original film, animated or otherwise. Patton Oswalt is replacing original star Louis C.K. while Jenny Slate, Kevin Hart, and Eric Stonestreet all return to voice their characters again. New additions include Harrison Ford in his first ever voice over role as well as Tiffany Haddish, Nick Kroll, and Pete Holmes all voicing new characters.
The film will see the return of writer Brian Lynch who wrote ‘Minions’ and will once again be directed by Chris Renaud who was also behind the first two films in the ‘Despicable Me’ trilogy.
The original film earned over $875 million worldwide so it’s no surprise we’re being introduced to these characters again. You can check out the first trailer below and catch the film in UK cinemas May 27th.
