All The Money In The World

2017 has been such a busy year for Ridley Scott with Alien Covenant and Producing Blade Runner 2049 (out October 5th). 2018 looks no different for the versatile veteran filmmaker with All The Money In The World, today Sony Pictures release the first UK trailer. Starring Kevin Spacey unrecognisable as J.Paul Getty the one time richest tycoons in the world. So rich he wouldn’t even pay for his kidnapped grandson’s ransom, just sent in his advisor Marky Marky aka Mark Wahlberg to do his ‘dirty’ work.

Nearly 80 years old there seems to be no slowing down for the director despite several of his past movies delivering a mixed critical response. He’s already got several projects lined up and as for this one made in fast time. The movie marks amazingly Scott and Spacey’s first movie together and we get a nice look at his heavy makeup portrayal. The trailer showcases another strong performance from Michelle Williams, could we be looking at Oscar contention for Scott? Whatever Gary Oldman is going to get a run for his money at the next Oscars.

Rome, 1973. Masked men kidnap a teenage boy named Paul (Charlie Plummer). His grandfather, J. Paul Getty (Kevin Spacey), is the richest man in the world, a billionaire oil magnate, but heโ€™s notoriously miserly. His favorite grandsonโ€™s abduction is not reason enough for him to part with any of his fortune. All the Money in the World follows Gail, (Michelle Williams), Paulโ€™s devoted, strong-willed mother, who unlike Getty, has consistently chosen her children over his fortune. Her sonโ€™s life in the balance with time running out, she attempts to sway Getty even as her sonโ€™s mob captors become increasingly more determined, volatile and brutal. When Getty sends his enigmatic security man Fletcher Chace (Mark Wahlberg) to look after his interests, he and Gail become unlikely allies in this race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.

The film is inspired by historical events. Some scenes, characters, and dialogue have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes.

All The Money In The World will be released in the UK and Ireland 5th January 2018 (USA release is 8th December). The movie will also star Romain Duris and Timothy Hutton.
