The inner-workings of the brain have always been a thing of wonder for mankind, and now, thankfully, Pixar have revealed what is truly going on behind the eyes of our loved ones: a creature control team, controlling their every action.

Pixar have released the UK trailer for their new film Inside Out and it looks very promising indeed.  Inside Out will be the studio’s first non-sequel film since Brave was released in 2012, and Pixar will be hoping to turn public opinion around after receiving criticism for announcing another sequel to the Toy Story films last month.

The film tells the story of Riley, a small girl who has had to move cross-country due to her father’s new job.  The film will follow Riley through the perspective of her emotions; Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear, and Sadness.

In the trailer we see what appears to be an everyday conversation between Riley and her parents, about her day at school.  We are then introduced to the said emotions, who are monitoring the action from a control centre.

The trailer seems funny and sweet, providing enough material for both children and adults to identify with.  We also get to hear some of the wonderful voice talent, with comedic actors Amy Poehler (Joy), Bill Hader (Fear), Lewis Black (Anger), Mindy Kaling (Disgust), and Phyllis Smith (Sadness), providing the voices of Riley’s emotions.

Directed by Pete Docter (Monsters Inc., Up), Inside Out looks to be Pixar on fine form.  Let’s hope the film is as good as the trailer suggests.

Inside Out arrives in UK cinemas in July 2015.
