Belgium artist Peyo iconic characters will once again be on our cinema screens. The last time it was Sony Pictures, now it’s Paramount Pictures. Their first adventure they have to save their world, and to do that they must come to ours.
This is Rihanna‘s first ‘acting’ role since 2019, with Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, Brooklyn Nine Nine). The rest cast for this one includes James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman as Papa Smurf. .
Did we need another Smurfs film? Probably not, however this will make money, hopefully not enough to get another film. Those eight years without these little blue creatures plaguing our cinema screens was sublime. Sadly the humour we get in this trailer is not funny, money talks!
When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe. SMURFS features an all-star voice cast including Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
The Smurfs will be released by Paramount Pictures in UK, Irish and U.S Cinemas on 18th July.
