Jessica Chastain To Star In Rob Savage Horror Film

Jessica Chastain will star in a new horror film directed by Rob Savage (The Boogeyman, Dashcam). Deadline is reporting that the actress has signed on to star in Incidents Around The House, an adaptation of Josh Malerman’s novel of the same name. Malerman is also the author behind Birdbox, the inspiration for the smash hit 2018 Netflix film that starred Sandra Bullock.
The synopsis for the novel is as follows
To eight-year-old Bela, her family is her world. There’s Mommy, Daddo, and Grandma Ruth. But there is also Other Mommy, a malevolent entity who asks her every day: “Can I go inside your heart?”
When horrifying incidents around the house signal that Other Mommy is growing tired of asking Bela the same question, over and over . . . Bela understands that unless she says yes, soon her family must pay.
Other Mommy is getting restless, stronger, bolder. Only the bonds of family can keep Bela safe but other incidents show cracks in her parents’ marriage. The safety Bela relies on is on the brink of unravelling.
But Other Mommy needs an answer.
The script will be penned by Nathan Elston (Succession), and the film will be produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse in association with Spin a Black Yarn for Universal Pictures.
