Jeremy Renner Exits Hawkeye Season 2 Amid Salary Conflict

After a salary dispute, Jeremy Renner has turned down an offer to reprise his role in Hawkeye for a second season.
The actor, who has played the role in the MCU since 2011, starred in his solo series on Disney+ in 2021. However, Renner stated he rejected the second season of Hawkeye due to a salary dispute, High Performance reports: “They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money.”
The Avengers star went on to suggest the proposed pay cut may have been a result of his 2023 snowmobile accident: “I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.”
He was also not short of words when discussing the producers in charge of the show. Renner described them as “Not Marvel, mind you. This is like, just Disney, not even really Disney. It’s just the penny pinchers, the accountants. I told them to go fly a kite.”
Renner’s reprisal as Hawkeye and his future in the MCU may currently be uncertain since his accident back in 2023. But, for fans, hope is not lost. The actor stated he would love to play the character again, should a fairer offer be presented.
Whether Disney renegotiates Renner’s contract or not remains to be seen. But for now, the actor is not a part of the series’ future nad has not yet been listed as part of the cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, due for release on May 1st, 2026.
