Watch The Enigmatic First Trailer For Tár Starring Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett in TAR

If you think Terrence Malick who rarely makes films, Todd Field will be reclusive in nature. Both there reasons for lack of films will be different, tonight Universal Pictures have released the Enigmatic First Trailer For Tár.

This new film marks the Academy nominee’ first film since 2006, Little Children. His latest film stars Cate Blanchett as the greatest (fictional) greatest living composer in classical music. She is Lydia Tár, acclaimed composer and first female chief conductor of a German orchestra.

Full details of this film are still very scarce. From what we’ve read Blanchett‘s character will probably be based on Eva Brunelli. The first real life woman to conduct at the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1923.

The Trailer itself doesn’t reveal anything itself , with a big focus on Blanchett’s character. A slow motion promo which shows Tár smoking, does that say she comes with a big ego? Maybe even a horrible person in reality a very talented individual?

As for the film’s score that comes courtesy of Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker). We are intrigued, are you?

TÁR, set in the international world of classical music, centres on Lydia Taěr, widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.

Rest of the main cast includes Noémie Merlant, Nina Hoss, Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner and Mark Strong. Universal Pictures will release Tár in the UK and Irish cinemas in January 2023. In the U.S it will make it’s world premiere at Venice Film Festival next month, with a 7th October cinema release.
