Kevin Bacon in They /Them on Sky

Slashers and camps in films are a match made in heaven or should I say hell? Peacock will have a treat for slasher fans in August with They/Them starring Kevin Bacon. Today we get a look at the film’s Trailer which offers ‘a safe place’ from who and what?

The film is the directorial feature debut for Award winning writer John Logan (Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Skyfall). Which promisesย  a spin on the Sleepaway Camp ala Friday 13th (which Bacon was in). Bacon is Owen Whistler who runs a conversion camp for young LGBTQ+ people to ‘cure’ them. As the campers are psychologically brainwashed, even tortured, a mysterious killer claims victim. The survivors must reclaim their power to survive.

We get true glimpses of the horrors of the camp and that Owen’s hatred of peoples sexuality. It’s sad that people are persecuted because of their sexuality in 21st Century, this film looks to reflect those horrors. in everyday life

When a group of LGBTQ+ campers arrives at Whistler Camp – a conversion camp run by Owen Whistler (Kevin Bacon) – they are promised a โ€œnew sense of freedomโ€ by the end of the week. But as the counselors attempt to psychologically break down each of the campers, a mysterious killer starts claiming victims, and they must reclaim their power if theyโ€™re going to survive the horrors of the camp. Written and directed by Academy Award nominee John Logan and produced by Jason Blum, They/Them is an empowering slasher film.

starring an ensemble cast that includes Carrie Preston, Anna Chlumsky, Theo Germaine, Quei Tann, Anna Lore, Monique Kim, Darwin del Fabro, Cooper Koch, and Austin Crute.

They/Them will be released on Peacock TV in the States from 5th August. We have no word if the film will also be streamed on Peacock UK via Sky?
