Neill Blomkamp’s Gran Turismo Gets Second Trailer!

Racing legends will be made this August when Sony Pictures  release Neill Blomkamp‘s Gran Turismo. Ahead of it’s cinema release we get another look at the film in the shape of the second UK Trailer.

Legends are born in many places, with unique stories in how they become great. No one expects a gamer to become a real life racer thanks to his expertise of video game Gran Turismo. It did for teen Jann Mardenborough (played by Archie Madekwe) a great video gamer who dreams of become a GT Racer one day. That dream did become true when he used his gaming skills to race for real in Japan.

When it comes to video gaming movie adaptations, we don’t expect to take us in this direction. Fans of the Playstation game will recognise some elements of the game in the film. It looks like Blomkamp has used cameras that use similar to the ones used in the game, can you notice anything else?

The big concern is how good can this film really be? Great having all the special effects, the true story is fascinating, what else will it do? Neill Blomkamp gave us District 9, his filmography after that has been mixed can he get better? Fingers crossed.

Based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, the film is the ultimate wish fulfilment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.

The film also stars Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, Darren Barnet, Thomas Kretschmann, Djimon Hounsou, and Geri Halliwell.

Gran Turismo will now be in UK and Irish cinemas from a slightly earlier release date of 9th August.
