Alien Prequel to Be in 3D: Green Lantern & Suckerpunch to go 3D as well
I dont know why Im posting this but hey its news, well revolution will be televised on our screens 3D style and today we find out that the new Alien Prequel has jumped on the band wagon and will be shot in 3 Dimensional ‘glory’.
The original Alien art director Roger Christian informed Shadowlocked magazine that Ridley Scott has confirmed he’s going to down the 3D route but ala Avatar style. So Basically the Xenonorphs (the aliens) will be like the Na’vi instead of some poor stuntman or woman sweating like buckets in a big Alien suit, possibly the planets will be CGI animated, so lots of maniac fun in front of the classic greenscreens.
“Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto,” said Christian. “He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there’s ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I’m hoping he’ll revive another three. The world certainly wants it.”
I have to agree Aliens is one of the best horror/sci-fi fanchises to date it brought a whole new level of terror to film audiences in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. I didn’t Alien3 which did get a bit of stick and movie 4 was ok a bit like the Terminator franchise when it got to movie 3, the movie was ok but you could see it was either needing a massive kick up the backside or just simply lay the franchise to rest. If handled right and having the original director/producer involved is a good move and hopefully if the movie goes to a trilogy we can “enjoy” those brown trouser moments once again.
As one famous popular franchise starts recreate itself via 3d technology Warner Bros annouce that 2 more of its new movies will get the 3D treatment. Green Lantern and Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch are jumping on the bandwagon to a few extra bucks in the studios accounts and as both movies have already started filming or in post production, they will have to do the upgrading in post production. So like many new movies the past years do not be at all surprised those publish release dates will suddenly change.
The master of Special efffects in the golden days of cinema right into 1980’s Ray Harryhausen(Clash of the Titans orginal, Jason and the argonauts), I wonder what he thinks of all this technology, 3d ? Yes we have to move on and embrace new technologies but we must never forget the basics and in the golden days effects where Clay/stop motion and 3D was just a gimmick not a money grabbing exploitation technology, so what do you guys think of 3D?
