Trinity CineAsia have released the UK Trailer for epic Hong Kong thriller The Goldfinger starring Tony Leung and Andy Lau.
Anyone knows Hong Kong cinema will know Leung and Lau are big stars. It’s 20 years ago the pair starred together in Infernal Affairs the film that help make them famous outside of the region. Martin Scorsese made The Departed the Hollywood version of that film, now the pair reunite for this 80’s set saga.
Originally entitled Once Upon A Time In Hong Kong (new title is translated from Cantonese), we follow the rise and fall of a multi-billion dollar company. The company ran by (Lau) finds itself under investigation for corruption by investigator (Yeung).
Get ready for this eagerly awaited Hong Kong crime epic, reuniting the team behind the classic Infernal Affairs, which in turn spawned Martin Scorsese’s Oscar winning film, The Departed.
The Goldfinger stars Tony Leung (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Grandmaster) and Andy Lau (The Wandering Earth II, House of Flying Daggers), teamed with Infernal Affairs co-writer Felix Chong (The Silent War, Overheard), now taking the helm for this sweeping, stunning tale of greed and excess. They first collaborated more than 20 years ago on original 2002 box office sensation Infernal Affairs which earned international acclaim and paved the way for a hit trilogy.
Inspired by true events and set during the 1980’s, The Goldfinger follows the rise and fall of a multi-billion-dollar company and its chairman Cheng Yi-yan (Leung), who undergoes a major investigation led by an elite anti-corruption investigator (Lau). The result is a relentless and intriguing 15-year investigation in pursuit of the truth.
With its engrossing story, stellar performances and incredible style and visuals, The Goldfinger reaffirms the cinematic power and tradition of Hong Kong cinema.

The Goldfinger will be in UK and Irish cinemas, with previews from 30th December and showing from 5th January 2024.
