Jet Li fans, Eureka Entertainment is set to release Wong Jing‘s 1993 wuxia film Kung Fu Cult Master. Set for release for the first time on Blu-ray in January as part of Eureka Classics range.
One of director Wong Jing’s most under-appreciated films is this wuxia extravaganza based on Jin Yong’s The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber.
While warring martial arts sects fight over a pair of mythical swords that grant great power, Zhang Wuji (Jet Li) goes on a quest to become a great martial artist and end the conflict.
It also stars Richard Ng, Sharla Cheung and Eureka Entertainment favourite Sammo Hung.
The film wasn’t originally a hit when it was released in cinemas, like it’s title it quickly became a cult hit. It did also spawn two sequels New Kung Fu Cult Master 1 and 2 starring Raymond Lam, Louis Koo and Donnie Yen; . Both also directed by Wong Jing.
