The 6 (1 hour) episode series inspired by Griselda Blanco, a woman who rose from obscurity to become ‘the Godmother’ of the underworld. Witness her lethal blend of charm and ruthlessness in this captivating series.
This is a slight different direction for Vergara (who is onboard also as a producer), from comedy to crime drama. A good move from actors who get too comfortable in certain genres to showcase their acting chops are more expansive. Blanco is a good test for the actor, Blanco might have been a vicious nasty person, she did have the charm. She also led one of the most profitable cartels ever…
Starring and executive produced by Sofía Vergara, GRISELDA is inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Colombian businesswoman Griselda Blanco who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. In 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helped her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as “the Godmother.”
The series also stars Alberto Guerra (Dario Sepúlveda), Christian Tappan (Arturo Mesa), Martín Rodríguez (Rivi Ayala), Juliana Aidén Martinez (June Hawkins), Vanessa Ferlito (Carmen Gutiérrez).
