Scott Pilgrim is returning to take on the world again in the shape of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Tonight Netflix have teased us in the shape of the first official Trailer!
Based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s hit graphic novels, which were adapted into the 2010 live action film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is bringing back Scott, Ramona Flowers, and all seven of her evil exes.
13 years after the film the cast will return to voice their characters. Michael Cera returns as Scott, the bass player of Sex Bob-Omb, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Johnny Simmons as young Neil, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, and Satya Bhabha, Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, and Mae Whitman as the Evil Exes.
There isn’t a official synopsis for this series just yet. It does look like things will follow the books again which our 23 year old hero will battle to win the heart of Ramona. First he must take on all her evil exes.
O’Malley will be the series showrunner, which is a wise move. Not just because it’s his creation, you could argue the live action Edgar Wright film actually plays more like a live action anime. This series should perfectly capture the chaos, the energy of the books and film. The 2010 film did well things really well, captivating, exciting fans, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off compliments things even more.
Science SARU are the animation studio creating the series. Expect another rocking soundtrack from Anamanaguchi, who created the Scott Pilgrim video game.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Animated series will launch on Netflix from 17th November.
