Universal Pictures have released the first UK Trailer for Wes Anderson‘s Asteroid City.
Fans of the filmmaker will be delighted to finally see footage from the upcoming film. They will also be pleased to see that the film has a distinctive ‘Wes Anderson‘ look, with gorgeous visuals and a wonderful bluesy score. While his last film was heavily influenced by Truffaut and Godard, this one plays on the Americana vibe, featuring kitchsy diners and Anderson‘s trademark pastel colour scheme.
The film welcomes Tom Hanks to Anderson’s quirky universe, and it seems that he may have to deal with alien contact. Could it be an invasion? ‘Asteroid City‘ is set in a fictional desert town in the 1950s, and many young people are heading to the town for the annual Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention. Everything goes well until an unexpected event changes everything.
The cast is always big in Wes Anderson films, many familiar, some new ones. This one includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan and Jeff Goldblum.

Asteroid City takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.
Asteroid City will crash land in UK, Irish and U.S Cinemas from 23rd June. The film will of course make it’s world premiere at Cannes Film Festival very soon.
