Edward Berger‘s All Quiet On The Western Front surprised many at last week’s Bafta‘s taking home 7 awards. With the Oscars only a few weeks away what better time for Netflix to announce they giving this film a 4K Ultra-HD release.
The film recently made history: For the first time ever, a production from Germany has been nominated for an Oscar® in the most important category, Best Picture. In addition, the film was nominated in eight other Oscar® categories. The film is also shortlisted in the German film awards.
The film is based on Erich Maria Remarque’s piercing, classic anti-war novel. Taking us back to trenches of the Western front of spring 1917. The German soldiers have been ordered to attack into no man’s land straight into the bullets of the opposing French soldiers. The soldiers start to run with Heinrich running further as his comrades scream and fall around him. He eventually does too, Heinrich was only 17.

All Quiet on the Western Front tells the gripping story of a young German soldier on the Western Front of World War I. Paul and his comrades experience first-hand how the initial euphoria of war turns into desperation and fear as they fight for their lives, and each other, in the trenches. The film from director Edward Berger is based on the world renowned bestseller of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque.
