They called him Mr.Tibbs, to every cinephile he was the Hollywood icon Sidney Poitier. Next month Apple TV+ will premiere Sidney, the upcoming documentary on the actors legacy. The film’s official Trailer has been released teasing the trailblazing  actor, civil rights activist.

The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin (Django Unchained) with Oprah Winfrey producing. With the support of Poitier’s family, Sidney explores the actor’s life from his ascension in Hollywood. To using his stature to fight civil rights and social inequality. Following the actor from his childhood growing up in Bahamas to the racism he faced when he moved to USA. We could go on and on about Sidney Poitier’s life, best thing to do is watch this film.

Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz. Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee, and Oprah Winfrey, all share their thoughts on Poitier. His impact on society, film industry and off course the actors themselves. This certainly looks like will be the most faithful portrait on the actor who sadly died at the start of 2022.

From producer Oprah Winfrey and directed by Academy Award nominee Reginald Hudlin, this revealing documentary honors the legendary Sidney Poitier and his legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement. Featuring candid interviews with Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz, Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee and many more, the film is also produced by Derik Murray, in close collaboration with the Poitier family.

Sidney will first make it’s world premiere at next month’s Toronto Film Festival. The doc will then make it’s debut on Apple TV+ from 23rd September.
