Edgar Allan Poe Faces True Horror In Raven’s Hollow Trailer

Edgar Allen Poe will always be considered one of literature’s greatest writers when it comes to gothic horror. Even the greats had to start somewhere, tonight we get Poe’s in Raven’s Hollow. Shudder have released the official Trailer which sees Young Poe facing true horror.

Christopher Hatton‘s film is not a biography nor adaptation of one of his stories. Edgar Allen Poe is the man protagonist who in reality personal life was steeped in mystery. When it’s the mind who gave us The Raven, The Masque Of The  Red Death throw the younger version into a story of his own.

William Moseley is our Young Edgar and the year is 1830. Poe is a military cadet based at West Point, Upstate New York with four other cadets. All on a training exercise who all find a man hanging on a wooden rack. That man says one word to Poe, ‘Raven’.  Pushing the cadets toward the mysterious rural community of Raven’s Hollow, buried in dark, twisted secrets.

Raven’s Hollow is set in Autumn, 1830. West Point military Cadet Edgar Allan Poe and four other cadets on a training exercise in upstate New York come upon a man eviscerated on a bizarre wooden rack. His dying words direct them to a forgotten community, which they believe is guarding sinister secrets. Enthralled by the Innkeeper’s beautiful and mysterious daughter Charlotte and fuelled by the town resident’s refusal to speak to the murder, Poe determines to uncover the truth. Risking his life and more, Poe ultimately comes face to face with the terror that will haunt him forever.

A rare film that explores the early days of Poe’s life while serving in the military as a backdrop, Hatton’s film brings together history and fiction to create a truly unique British supernatural period horror rich with dark gothic imagery.

The film also stars Melanie Zanetti, Kate Dickie, David Hayman, Oberon K. A. Adjepong, and Callum Woodhouse.

Raven’s Hollow will make it’s world premiere at Arrow FrightFest on 27th August. If you can’t attend, it will debut on Shudder platform on 22nd September.
