MUBI Releasing Joachim Trier’s Oslo Trilogy As Boxset

Global  boutique distributor and curated film streaming service  MUBI has announced they are set to release Blu-ray box set for The Oslo Trilogy, three films by Oscar-nominated director Joachim Trier.

Releasing for the first time ever as a box set, the bundle includes Reprise, Oslo, August 31st and the recent, critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film The Worst Person in the World. The Oslo Trilogy  available from August.

Fifteen years after their first feature-length collaboration, Reprise, and 10 years after its follow-up, Oslo, August 31st, director Joachim Trier and his longtime co-writer Eskil Vogt turned their gaze back on the Norwegian capital city with The Worst Person In The World.

Playful yet melancholy, intricately observed yet bracingly deft, and centring on three exhilarating performances from actor Anders Danielsen Lie, the films that comprise Joachim Trier’s newly christened Oslo TrilogyReprise (2006), Oslo, August 31st (2011) and The Worst Person In The World (2021) – deliver lyrical, unflinching meditations on memory, self-knowledge, and the mutability of identity in today’s Europe.

REPRISE

Erik (Espen Klouman Høiner) and Philip (Anders Danielsen Lie) have been best friends since childhood and both want to become writers. While Erik’s manuscript is refused by the publishers as lacking in talent, Philip is eagerly welcomed and overnight becomes a young star in Norway’s literary scene. Soon, their young dreams clash with reality.

OSLO, AUGUST 31ST

Recovering drug addict Anders (Anders Danielsen Lie) is given a day’s leave from his rehab centre to apply for a job in the city. Over the course of one day and night, he tries to reconnect with his old friends and family in Oslo, where the ghosts of his past mistakes wrestle with the hope to see some future by morning.

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

On the verge of turning thirty, Julie (Renate Reinsve) is faced with a series of choices that force her to pursue new perspectives on her life. Over the course of four years, she navigates love affairs and existential uncertainty as she starts deciding who she wants to become. Nominated for two Academy Awards (Original Screenplay and International Feature Film), and two BAFTA awards (Leading Actress and Film Not in the English Language).
