Watch The Mayhem For Stop Motion Animation Mad God

Shudder have released the official Trailer for their experimental animated horror Mad God. The  directorial  debut movie from legendary Holly visual effects artist Phil Tippett, 3 decades in the making.

The stop motion animation takes us deep into the Oscar winning nightmarish mayhem. We follow an Assassin through a forbidding world of tortured souls, decrepit bunkers, and wretched monstrosities forged from the most primordial horrors of the subconscious mind.

Our genre editor Bradley Hadcroft watched the film  at Fantasia Festival last year. Bradley gave the film 5 stars stating “However this anarchic thrill ride finds you, it will drill into your psyche and cling there like a parasitic worm.”

A relentlessly bleak and terrifying film that resonates with capitalist nightmare that drains humanity today…

Mad God is an experimental animated film set in a world of monsters, mad scientists and war pigs. A corroded diving bell descends amidst a ruined city, settling down upon an ominous fortress guarded by zombie-like sentries. The Assassin emerges to explore a labyrinth of bizarre, desolate landscapes inhabited by freakish denizens. Through unexpected twists and turns, he experiences an evolution beyond his wildest comprehension. A labour of love that has taken 30 years to complete, Mad God combines live-action and stop-motion, miniature sets and other innovative techniques to bring Tippett’s wholly unique and grotesquely beautiful vision to life.

An inspiration and trailblazer in his field, Tippett’s work has been praised by Steven Spielberg, Paul Verhoeven, Lucasfilm President Kathy Kennedy, and many more, and continues to this day to push the boundaries of the animation genre.

Mad God is written and directed by Tippett who also produced.

The voice cast includes Alex Cox, Niketa Roman, Satish Ratakonda, Harper Taylor, and Brynn Taylor.

Mad God will be released on Shudder from 16th June.
