Yesterday was that so called ‘most romantic day of the year’, Valentine’s Day. Lovers around the world embrace their love for each other, sometimes (like myself) love doesn’t come easy and we search those dating apps for potential ‘love’. In Mimi Cave‘s dark romcom (possibly horror), Fresh explores the modern dating scene, Searchlight Pictures have unearth the Official Trailer.  How far would you go for the search of love even if it finds you on the dinner plate of your new lover?

Cave‘s directorial feature debut is produced by Adam McKay and made it’s world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. It stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as our woman searching for love, whose just had enough of those dating apps have to offer. Every potential date has been a douchebag, however things might have changed for her, not online but in the supermarket. She crosses paths with a handsome stranger (Sebastian Stan), she goes on a few dates with him, now smitten with love. However her new boyfriend has some dark dangerous secrets.

The film was a hit at Sundance and our writer Bradley Hadcroft reviewed it, calling it a “classy midnight movie full of talent and tenacity that is both fun and freaky“. This is a film you might think is going down the edgy rom com route and takes a drastic turn into genre film and it’s this that might make this a popular film. It did with us!

Fresh follows Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who meets the alluring Steve (Sebastian Stan) at a grocery store and – given her frustration with dating apps – takes a chance and gives him her number. After their first date, Noa is smitten and accepts Steve’s invitation to a romantic weekend getaway.  Only to find that her new paramour has been hiding some unusual appetites.

The film also stars Jojo T. Gibbs, Andrea Bang, Dayo Okeniyi, Charlotte Le Bon, and Brett Dier.

Fresh will premiere on Disney+  under the ‘Star‘ Banner from 4th March.
