Sky Release Trailer For Bel-Air The Gritty Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air Reboot!

Over thirty years ago Will Smith‘s career got flipped-turned upside down with the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Once again things are about to be flipped-turned again with Bel-Air, the French Prince reboot. Today Sky have released the first look Trailer for the reboot series which looks like is ditching the comedy for something more gritty new story.

The new twist on the much loved 1990’s comedy series launched Smith into the limelight, will catch hardcore fans by surprise. It may shock some, though we’re not saying the comedy has gone it’s getting more serious to reflect current issues. The new direction has found it’s detractors , most of all it’s also attracted it’s fans including Smith who is now onboard as an executive producer. I wonder if Carlton will be still dancing to Tom Jones ‘Not Unusual’?

The basic classic storyline is still there with Jabari Banks as Will. A young man who got himself into trouble with gangs and is sent to his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air. This looks more about rebuilding your life as well as tacking current issues (racism, class, etc…) with now longer 1 hour episodes. For series fans there is plenty of Easter eggs to bring a smile to your face…

Set in modern-day America, Peacock Original Bel-Air is a new one-hour drama series that imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

The rest of the series cast includes Adrian Holmes as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones as Jazz, and Simone Joy Jones as Lisa.

Bel-Air will be streaming on Peacock from 14th February, exclusively on Sky and NOW in the UK and Ireland.
