Halloween may have been a week ago, it doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy anything that could be seen as something for that celebration. This weeks Sunday Short Theatre we get animated in Sprite Fright unexpected forces of nature turn on those who don’t respect when nature offers.

This 10 minute animated short is the latest short film from the Blender Studios. The film is co-directed the very experienced former Pixar artist/supervisor Matthew Luhn and Hjalti Hjalmarsson. The darkly comedic animation follows a group of rowdy teens trekkers who simply have no respect for nature. In the isolated forest they are in nature takes revenge when peaceful little mushrooms turn into a killer force of nature.

This brilliant little film is inspired by 1980’s genre film. From the likes of Gremlins, American Werewolf In London and much more. I’m sure when you watch you’ll find many more Easter eggs paying homage to other classics. The message of this film is respect nature or you’ll regret it!

Blender Studio’s 13th open movie is an 80’s-inspired horror comedy, set in Britain: When a group of rowdy teenagers trek into an isolated forest, they discover peaceful mushroom creatures that turn out to be an unexpected force of nature.

The voice cast includes Valerie LaPointe, Gabriel Bisset-Smith, Nicole Davis, Homer Todiwala, Ed Kear, Eric Peterson.
