Sunday Short Theatre – Migrants (2021)

No bones about it, our little planet’s climate is a mess. I’m not going to preach we must do this, that and this to fix things. The weather is  causing chaos in many ways including animals seeing their natural homes destroyed. In this week’s Sunday Short Theatre choice their home is melting away, Migrants.

The  8 minute animated short film comes from French animation school PÔLE 3D. All the creators are 5th year students at the school, Hugo Caby, Antoine Dupriez, Lucas Lermytte, Zoé Devise, and Aubin Kubiak. What gorgeous film that’s that good it’s actually eligible to be nominated for next year’s Oscars.

The film’s focus is on global warming and Polar Bears who are driven from their natural home thanks to the melting icecaps. They find themselves in exile and search of a new home, they find somewhere however it’s with Brown Bears. The bears don’t like them, can they live together in peace?

Clever narrative combining global warming with refugee situation, both sensitive subjects. It’s worth a look…
