After four films is Disney Pixar’s possibly most successful franchise, Toy Story truly over? I think we can say…No! Today they reveal the First Teaser Trailer for Lightyear, the origin story of a Space Ranger. To Infinity And Beyond!
In the era of remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels and spin-offs it was only the matter of time Disney Pixar would join in. In reality they already have as for the Toy Story franchise spin-offs are the only logical route for this franchise to continue. Can we expect more films for the other toys?
From one captain voiced by Tim Allen to another Captain, that’s Captain America, Chris Evans is set to voice Buzz in this new film – “The phrase ‘a dream come true’ gets thrown around a lot, but I’ve never meant it more in my life,” says Evans. “Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”
Behind the production lines and the plastic that make the toys, they still have origins. The sci-fi action-adventure presents the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear the hero who inspired the toy—introducing the legendary Space Ranger who would win generations of fans.
We don’t know much else about the film’s plot or even who else will be lending their voices to this film. Toy Story fans will be over the moon to see this, regardless if it can replicate the success. We have a hunch it will!
There is no exact UK or Irish cinema release date just yet, apart from Disney-Pixar stating Lightyear will be released in Summer 2022.
