4K is off course the way to watch films and Studiocanal know that. Today they announce Two of seminal director Mike Leigh’s classic films All Or Nothing and Vera Drake are to receive a Blu-Ray and Digital release in the UK in November.
All Or Nothing, is Leigh’s Palme d’Or-nominated depiction of intertwining family lives on a London housing estate. Starring many Mike Leigh regulars such as Timothy Spall, Lesley Manville, Ruth Sheen and Marion Bailey, the film also gave several of a new generation of British actors their first lead roles on the big screen including Sally Hawkins, James Corden and Daniel Mays.
The film has been lovingly restored in 4K by STUDIOCANAL, with the new version approved by Leigh’s cinematographer on the film, Dick Pope.
2005 BAFTA and Oscar-nominated drama Vera Drake starring Imelda Staunton as an unassuming cleaner harbouring a secret that, when revealed, threatens to derail her life and those of her family around her.
The film won three BAFTA Awards, including Best Director for Leigh and Best Actress for Staunton in the titular role.

London, 1950: Vera Drake (Imelda Staunton) lives with her husband Stan (Phil Davis) and their grown-up children, Sid (Daniel Mays) and Ethel (Alex Kelly). They are not rich, but they are a happy, close family. Vera cleans houses, Stan is a mechanic in his brother’s garage, Sid works for a tailor and Ethel works in a factory testing lightbulbs.
But selfless Vera has a side-line which she keeps secret from all of those around her: without accepting payment, she helps young women to end unwanted pregnancies. When one of these girls is rushed to hospital following an abortion, the police investigation leads to Vera and her world comes crashing down.
With a phenomenal British cast also featuring Sally Hawkins, Eddie Marsan and Jim Broadbent, VERA DRAKE won the 2005 BAFTAs for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Director.

Studiocanal will release All Or Nothing and Vera Drake on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital on 8th November. BFI are celebrating Mike Leigh’s work with a complete film season at BFI Southbank from 18th October-30th November and in UK cinemas from December.
