Searchlight Pictures have released the the first official UK Trailer for Guillermo Del Toro‘s Psychological thriller Nightmare Alley.

Del Toro takes a big step into a genre Noir, an genre the Mexican filmmaker delves into. Like that TV advert for a certain famous department store, this is no ordinary film, this is a Guillermo Del Toro film. When it comes to Del Toro this won’t be a straightforward Noir when the director loves his dark, twisted films with otherworldly creatures.

If you remember Crimson Peak which many believed was going to be a Horror, instead we got a film with horror element which really was a gothic horror. This new one is classic film noir and then some!

For this one Bradley Cooper stars as Stanton Carlisle a one time carnival worker who heads to the big city. There he becomes a nightclub star, using those carney skills to manipulate many as a mind reader. However a psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) is determined to expose him as a charlatan, only to find herself involved in his games.

This shows snippets of classic Del Toro and that’s what we ask for. Plus those monsters he’s made a name for himself for may become more human than usual.

In NIGHTMARE ALLEY, an ambitious carny (Bradley Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.

The film also stars Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, David Strathairn. Along with Holt McCallany, Clifton Collins Jr., Tim Blake Nelson, and Jim Beaver.

Nightmare Alley doesn’t have a confirmed UK or Irish cinema release date just yet, it’s ‘Coming Soon‘. If you live in the U.S, it seems the release date will be 17th December.
