Warner Bros. Pictures have released the first look images for their upcoming World War II feature Operation Mincemeat.
The film is directed by John Madden based on the best selling book of the same name written by Ben MacIntyre. Colin Firth stars in this film based on uniquely named World War II operation mincemeat which happened in 1943. A true story of the most successful war time deception ever attempted, and one that changed the course of the Second World War.
It’s 1943. The Allies are determined to break Hitler’s grip on occupied Europe, and plan an all-out assault on Sicily; but they face an impossible challenge – how to protect a massive invasion force from potential massacre. It falls to two remarkable intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu (Colin Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Matthew Macfadyen) to dream the most inspired and improbable disinformation strategy of the war – centred on the most unlikely of secret agents: a dead man. Operation Mincemeat is the extraordinary and true story of an idea that hoped to alter the course of the war – defying logic, risking countless thousands of lives, and testing the nerves of its creators to breaking point.
The film also stars Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton, Jason Isaacs, Johnny Flynn, Simon Russell Beale, Mark Gatiss.
Operation Mincemeat will be released by Warner Bros in UK and Irish cinemas from January 2022, with 7th January a possible release date. If you live in U.S.A and Canada, Netflix will be releasing the film with the date still to be announced.
