Genre streamer Shudder have sent us the unsettling Trailer for their upcoming British ghost story chiller, Martyrs Lane.
The film comes from English actress turned filmmaker Ruth Platt. The film has a deeply personal feel the filmmaker, based around the short story of the same name. A Story about love and grief through a dark and captivating ghost story.
Young actors Kiera Thompson and Sienna Sayer impressively lead the cast in this film. A young girl lives in an old house with her family, she can’t understand why they are so distant . When she’s visited by a mysterious stranger who can tell some answers, however as she pieces things together it threatens unveil the danger that lurks.
If you enjoyed, Guillermo Del Toro‘s Devil’s Backbone, you might just love this one!
The film is set to make it’s world premiere later tonight at Fantasia Fest, then a day later it’s UK Premiere at Edinburgh Film Festival [more info here]. Our horror editor Bradley Hadcroft has just watched the film, stay tuned for that review…
In this unsettling ghost story, Leah, 10, lives in a large, old house with her family but can’t quite work out why her mother seems so distant. At night she is visited by a mysterious guest, who might be able to give her some answers. With a new challenge every night, Leah is rewarded with bits of knowledge that, when pieced together, threaten to shine a dangerous light on both the truth in her nightmares and of the world she lives in.
The film also stars Denise Gough (who will be seen in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series), Steven Cree (Outlaw/King Brave), Hannah Rae (Broadchurch), and Anastasia Hille (The Abandoned)..
Martyrs Lane will be exclusively available on Shudder from 9th September.
