In Sci-fi Drama Lapsis UK Trailer Your Life Belongs To The Machine

Your life belongs to the machines as Signature Entertainment release the UK Trailer for Noah Hutton‘s indie sci-fi drama, Lapsis.

At the end of 2020 Noah Hutton‘s intriguing sci-fi caught our attention and 6 months on we’re weeks away from it’s UK and Irish release. It was a film with a message that resonates globally, the gig economy or here in the UK refers to people on Zero Hours contracts, slaves to the system. I have been there myself been there which I have no desire to return to.

So what’s this film all about? It’s set in an alternate present day New York where a new quantum tech industry is on the look for the labour of independent contractors, called “cablers,” who are forced to compete against robots to pull wires over rough terrain.

This looks nuts , but gets my thumbs up highlighting what I would call another name for ‘slave labour’.

Struggling to support himself and his brother, Ray takes up work in the gig economy, laying cable to connect mysterious floating cubes.

His new job is strange and highly pressured but extremely lucrative. As time passes his job becomes automated and he finds himself racing to complete his tasks before the robot cablers sharing his route.

With this added pressure and growing hostility from those on the trail with him, will Ray even make it through the day?

The film stars Dean Imperial, Madeline Wise, Babe Howard, Arliss Howard, and Ivory Aquino.
