All Hail Godzilla vs. Kong At the Official Film Chart Top Spot

All hail the kings! From superheroes to Kaiju as Godzilla vs. Kong battles to Number 1 on the Official Film Chart, stomping up two places from its Number 3 debut last week.

On digital downloads only the film triumphs over two big recent releases; former Number 1 Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2) – the biggest title of the week on physical formats – and Tom & Jerry: The Movie (3).

Suspenseful 2018 horror A Quiet Place flies 15 places to Number 4, landing in the Top 10 for the very first time. Starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt alongside Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, the critically acclaimed film sees a new UK chart peak following the release of its fantastic sequel released in cinemas last week.

Meanwhile, Raya and the Last Dragon drops one place to Number 5, dystopian action film Chaos Walking climbs one to Number 6, Wonder Woman 1984 lands at Number 7 and Peter Rabbit is down two spots to 8.

Arnold Schwarzenegger lives up to one of his iconic quotes as his 1990 sci-fi classic Total Recall re-enters the chart at Number 9, marking a new peak for the film and its first stint in the Top 10 thanks to a surge of digital download. Finally, Spider-Man: Homecoming rounds off the countdown at Number 10.

This week’s Official Film Chart online show features a sneak peek of Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan in award-winning romantic drama Ammonite, which is available to Download & Keep from 11th June.

The Official Film Chart is unveiled each Wednesday and is the subject of a Top 10 Official Film Chart online show, published on and available for media syndication.

The chart – the result of a partnership between the Official Charts Company, the British Association for Screen Entertainment and incorporating data from retailer members of the Entertainment Retailers Association – is published on every Wednesday at noon and counts movie downloads from services including Amazon, iTunes, Sky Store, Virgin Media Store, Rakuten TV, Talk Talk TV, as well as 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD disc sales from all high street and online retailers
