Netflix have released the Official Trailer for Halston their 5 part mini series starring Ewan McGregor as the titular role. The rise and fall of an household fashion name, amongst the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.
Full name Roy Halston Frowick, known to the fashion world as Halston with McGregor stars as the legendary designer in the latest incarnation. The man had everything and like a house of cards lost it all.
This has all the trademark tropes of a Ryan Murphy produced film or show. This is also co-created and directed by Daniel Minahan whom this series seems to be a passion project for. A project he’s been trying to get off its feet for over 20 years, it certainly looks wild. Potty mouthed, sleek and stylish, however will viewers feel convinced by a no gay actor in the lead role?
This series shows promise, though I haven’t been intrigued by a Murphy show since American Horror Story. Will you be?
The limited series HALSTON follows the legendary fashion designer (Ewan McGregor), as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status and fame, literally defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ‘80’s New York — until a hostile takeover forces him to battle for control of his most precious asset… the name Halston itself. The series is Executive Produced by Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Alexis Martin Woodall, Daniel Minahan, Ewan McGregor, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films, Eric Kovtun and Sharr White. Minahan also serves as the series director
This series has a fantastic cast which includes Bill Pullman, Rebecca Dayan, David Pittu, Krysta Rodriguez , Kelly Bishop, Gian Franco Rodriguez, Rory Culkin, Sullivan Jones, and Vera Farmiga.
Netflix are set to launch Halston on 14th May.
