Once enslaved, now a samurai. This April, honour has a new name. Netflix have released the official Teaser Trailer for their upcoming anime Yasuke starring the voice of Oscar nominee Lakeith Stansfield.
The six-episode animation series created by LeSean Thomas (Black Dynamite, The Boondocks).Japanese Anime stuido MAPPA ( Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack On Titan final Season) creating the animation directed by Takeshi Koike (Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine). Flying Lotus provide the soundtrack for the show.
The series is set in alternate fantastical Japan during the feudal era. The story is about a samurai warrior of African descent who must return to his life of sword and violence in order to protect a mysterious girl from the dark forces.
The focus of this promo is our titular hero and amazingly there was a Black warrior. This animation maybe set in the same Feudal Japan, however amongst the swords there’s lots of magic!
In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, the greatest ronin never known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords. The story of Yasuke, the first African samurai who actually served the legendary Oda Nobunaga, will be released to the world.
Yasuke Season One will be launched on Netflix from 29th April in the UK and Ireland.
