Bridgerton Star Regé-Jean Page Not Returning For Season 2

Sorry ladies, London’s most eligible bachelor Duke Of Hastings, will not be returning to Bridgerton. News has broke actor Regé-Jean Page won’t be returning via shows social media. Or should I say the shows narrator and gossip columnist Lady Whistledown.

If you know nothing of the books and loved the first season, this news may come as a shock. If you do know the background from reading the books, you would know this news was coming…

Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”

If you have read Julia Quinn‘s novels you will be aware the series is taking anthology approach which means the focus of attraction will be on someone else. Season two will be based on the The Viscount Who Loved Me, which explores the eldest son, Anthony (Johnathan Bailey). Dealing of course with his own quest for love and his family affairs and responsibilities.

This news will disappoint many and some fans may ask “why couldn’t they change the story” like they have done to many other book to screen adaptations. The Duke Of Hastings won’t be written out of the series entirely with assumptions he’s enjoying his new married life off screen. Daphne(played by Phoebe Dynevor) the Duke’s wife will still play a vital part of the new season.

Regé-Jean Page schedule is already a busy one. He has new Dungeons & Dragons film along with The Russo Brothers Gray Man which also stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas which is set for release in 2022.
